L’Hospitalet launches its first scooter-sharing service with 100 ACCIONA scooters

03/04/2019

ACCIONA rolled out its scooter-sharing service in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat on 1 March with scooters powered by certified 100% renewable energy

ACCIONA deployed 100 electric scooters in the Barcelona municipality of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat on 1 March. This is the first service of this type to be provided in this municipality, which is one of the most densely populated parts of the country.

The service will help to improve mobility in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area as users will be able to travel and pause their journeys for up to six hours in any location, but must complete their trip (releasing the scooter for use by other people) inside the authorised area.

This authorised area for starting and ending journeys with ACCIONA scooters consists of the majority of the L’Hospitalet de Llobregat municipality and various zones in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

To access the service, users must download the ACCIONA Motosharing app. Once registered (via the app or the website), users will be able to see the exact locations of the scooters and reserve the one nearest to them. Scooters will be available 20 hours every day, from 6:00 am until 2:00 am the following day, 365 days a year.

The service also provides a 24-hour Customer Support Centre with a free telephone number for answering questions or dealing with incidents. The scooters are recharged by the maintenance team that replaces the batteries, operating from a fleet of 100%-electric vehicles.

The scooters are geo-located and have the equivalent power to a 125 cc engine. They offer two driving modes via the “MODE” button. The Standard “S” mode has a speed of up to 50 Km/h for city driving, while the Custom “C” mode enables speeds of up to 80 Km/h and is recommended for faster highways. All of the scooters have two seats and two jet-type helmets stored in the top box. Users committed to responsible fuel consumption will find an additional feature in the app that quantifies the CO2 emissions they have prevented by opting for a shared electric scooter, compared to a conventional private vehicle.

Users can register and use the shared scooters via the ACCIONA Motosharing app or website, with prices between €0.25/minute and €0.27/minute depending on the selected driving mode, all-inclusive with no fixed costs (insurance, recharging and maintenance), paying only for the actual time used, charged in seconds.

ACCIONA already offers its shared scooter services in Madrid (where it has 1,000 scooters) and Valencia (where there are more than 250).

Vehicle sharing services are a reflection of ACCIONA’s own identity and vocation to help reduce CO2 emissions, improve people’s quality of life, electrify the economy and promote alternative means of transport. ACCIONA has therefore decided to use its own brand name to get closer to the end users of these transport services.
