ACCIONA to deploy over 500 electric scooters in Valencia as part of its sustainable mobility initiative

  • ACCIONA Mobility already operates a fleet of over 1,000 shared scooters in Madrid

ACCIONA Mobility is rolling out its scooter sharing service in Valencia today, three months after the successful launch of the service in Madrid. The initial fleet of 150 electric scooters comes into service today, billed per second of actual usage. The company will expand the fleet in the coming months with the aim of putting 500 scooters on the streets.

Users can register and use the shared scooters with the ACCIONA Motosharing app or on the www.accionamotosharing.com/es/valencia website; rates range from €0.25 to €0.27 per minute, depending on the drive mode; there are no fixed costs, all expenses — insurance, recharging and maintenance — are included, and users pay per second for actual usage.

Users who register before 31 March will get 30 free minutes once their data have been validated.

The scooters, which will be geolocated, have the equivalent power of a 125 cc engine and offer two riding modes (using the Mode selector): Standard ("S"), with speeds of up to 50 km/h, for use in the city; and Custom ("C"), which can reach speeds up to 80 km/h, for highway use. The scooters are all two-seaters and carry two jet-style helmets in the trunk. The service app will inform users about the CO2 emissions they avoid by using a 100%-renewable electric scooter instead of a conventional private vehicle.

How the service works

Once they have registered with the app or the website, users can see the exact location of the nearest scooter and can reserve it.

Users can halt their trip for up to 6 hours anywhere in the city but the trip must conclude inside the service territory. The service will be available for 20 hours per day, from 06:00 am to 02:00 am.
There is a 24/7 Customer Care Service and a freephone for dealing with queries and incidents.

Scooters are maintained and fully-charged batteries are swapped in at night by the ACCIONA Mobility all-electric maintenance fleet.

ACCIONA's incursion into the vehicle sharing business is in line with the company's mission to support sustainable solutions linked to infrastructure, and specifically transport. ACCIONA Mobility crystallises the company's position in new services that enhance sustainable mobility.

Vehicle sharing services are aligned with ACCIONA's identity and its wish to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions, improving quality of life in cities, electrifying the economy and promoting alternative means of transport. For this reason, ACCIONA is moving into this market under its own brand in order to deal directly with end users of transport services.
