In August this year, ACCIONA began the maintenance service for a new set of municipal green spaces in a four-year contract worth €2.4 million awarded by León City Council. This service is in addition to the one that ACCIONA has been providing since 2009 for the rest of León’s green spaces, which means that ACCIONA is now responsible for 100% of the city’s green areas.
León City Council has chosen ACCIONA to carry out the maintenance and cleaning work of the green spaces in the areas corresponding to Zone 3 (Area 17, Paseo de Salamanca – Crucero, Armunia, Oteruelo and Trobajo del Cerecedo). This service is in addition to the one that ACCIONA has been providing since 2009, maintaining the green spaces across the rest of the city.
The four-year contract worth a total of €2.4 million includes gardening and landscaping work, maintenance of the play areas and ornamental fountains, maintenance of the furniture in the green spaces and cleaning the landscaped areas and parks of the neighbourhoods and districts in the western part of the city.
ACCIONA is now responsible for maintaining approximately 2,000,000 m2 of green spaces and 29,000 trees under its contract with León City Council.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, ACCIONA Service integrates sustainable gardening criteria into its operations, minimising the use of chemical products and herbicides, and strengthening the city’s tree habitat using minimal invasive environmental engineering techniques - criteria that it already applies to the city’s other green areas.
ACCIONA Service provides its experience of cleaning, maintenance, gardening and landscaping services to cities such as Madrid, Segovia and Cádiz, where it maintains green spaces, children’s play areas, outdoor fitness areas and dog recreation zones, as well as in emblematic parks and those of special tourism interest such as the historical parks of Madrid (Parque del Retiro, Alameda de Osuna, Parque del Oeste, Jardines de Sabatini) where it is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, gardening, surveillance, irrigation and resource management.
